Don’t buy Waterwise WW1600 Non-Electric Water Distiller

If you prefer to drink distilled water, you may think a non-electric water distiller is ideal for camping, as a backup for the electric distiller. At least, don’t buy this Waterwise WW1600 Non-Electric Water Distiller, if you really need such a non-electric one.

Waterwise is good at manufacturing water treatment device, especially their water distillers, such as waterwise 8800, waterwise 4000, waterwise 9000 etc. These electric distillers are all high quality, however this waterwise WW1600 is not so good. This non-electric distiller can make up to 16 gallons water in 24 hours, which means it can provide you with 2.5 liters per hour. Distillate capacity is more than electric ones which only can offer you no more than 1 litter per hour. The manufacturer advocates that it is ideal for camping of your remote get-a-way cabin and it also comes with a digital timer and a 36″ of hi-temperature Food Grade Tubing.

From the ad from manufacturer, it seems to deserve to buy. However, according to many customer reviews, it is a poor distiller. Here, we collect some customer reviews:

One guy labeled it as “Very Poor Quality Product”. He said he planned to buy it and send it to one his friend as a gift. However, when he received, he opened it and found that the product is poorly made and conceived. The pot is made of stainless steel, but it is too thin. The rest parts of it are also very thin and poorly soldered. One part even broke when it arrived. He said at last it was not worth the money.

Another user said it was a piece of junk. First, he didn’t feel satisfied with it was the poorly and cheaply manufacturing. This was not the biggest problem. The most horrible thing the user couldn’t stand was the distilled water which seemed it was contaminated by the metal. The outside is made of stainless steel, but the inner parts of the coolant and the underside were not made of stainless steel. He doubted the rough and dirty metal would be contaminated the distilled water. He had washed them many times, but the water always had a sticky feel which was not found in an electric distilled. Therefore, he hasn’t used it anymore. It was a waste of money.

If you are looking for an outdoor water purifier, obviously, this distiller is not a good one. If you decide to buy this one, it will cost you a lot of money. The price is up to $387. On Amazon, most reviews are negative. The average rating is only 2.0 out of 5 stars. So poor! It is not recommend purchasing this and you can try some portable water filters if you really need a water purifier for camping.
